Help please? Something has changed on the Windows Update side and it seems priority is being given to Windows 8 and 10. It also splashed a registry update message in the startup screen before going into the usual updates are being applied message. You are a real scientist!

If you follow every step, follow every word, this article will fix this problem! It's now working and updating windows 7 with updates. As far as changing your DNS, it is one way of doing it but..not really the way I would go about it when advising someone to fix the issue though. I am not on automatic update installation and that's why I wonder what this is and how did it install itself. I stumbled across this and have followed the directions to the best of my ability. Factory restored it and it updates but after it installs the service pack 1 it then installs the windows update agent 7.6.7600.320 and that's when the problems start. Note the latest Win 7 64 bit Update client version is 7.6.7601.23453, as of today anyway. Install the latest version of the Windows Update Agent.
Guess with that many updates, Microsoft could've made a Service Pack 2. How the hell did i not come across this article before i'll never know.
